In November, Portugal invites a different kind of exhale. The air is cooler, the light softer, and the quieter rhythm of autumn naturally draws us inward. High in the mountains of Monchique, surrounded by wide views, walking trails and peaceful nature, we’ll gather for a week of steady practice and deep rest.
The yoga shala sits above the main house, looking out across the hills and, on clear days, towards Portugal’s wild west coast. Around us, there is space to walk, pause, read, reflect or simply spend time outside. Far from the pace and noise of everyday life, this mountain setting offers something increasingly rare: room to slow down, listen and return to yourself.
Our days follow a rhythm that supports depth without pressure. Ashtanga offers structure and clarity, creating an anchor for focus, commitment and inner strength. Vinyasa brings creativity and flow, inviting you to experience movement as a conversation with the breath. When the body needs more stillness, Yin offers space to slow down, soften and release what may have been held beneath the surface.
Meditation runs through the retreat, not as something extra, but as part of its foundation. There will be short moments of stillness, longer sits and simple practices you can continue at home. Tools to meet the mind with more steadiness and to create a little more space within everyday life.
Alongside the yoga and meditation practices, we’ll have an introspective session inspired by the autumn season, offering space to turn inward, reflect, and deepen your retreat experience.
Come as you are: a devoted practitioner, a curious mover, or simply a tired human longing for time to reset. This autumn retreat is an invitation to practise sincerely, rest deeply and spend time close to nature. To leave the mountains feeling clearer, grounded in your body, quieter in your mind and more at home in yourself.

For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of organizing 22 retreats, and each time I’m reminded of the same thing: people don’t only come to deepen their practice. They come to breathe again. To step away from the constant doing, the full calendars, the noise and the tension that quietly follows them into the evening. A retreat creates space to remember what another rhythm can feel like.
Throughout the week, we’ll practice Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin and meditation. Most days will offer at least two practices, creating enough structure to support your process while leaving plenty of room for rest. This is not a retreat about doing as much as possible. Nothing is obligatory, and you are always invited to choose the rhythm that genuinely supports you.
Some people enjoy joining every practice. Others come to one class a day, perhaps a grounding morning practice or a slow Yin session, and spend the rest of their time reading, hiking, resting or simply being. Both are equally welcome. You can practice as much as feels right and rest as much as you need.
We’ll stay in a peaceful retreat setting high in the mountains of Monchique, surrounded by nature, open views and walking trails. The yoga shala looks out across the hills, and the land offers plenty of quiet places to pause, reflect or spend time alone. The rooms are minimalistic, clean and comfortable, and there is a swimming pool for those who feel called to take a refreshing dip. The Algarve coast is also within reach when you feel like exploring further.
Food is part of the support too. Healthy, home-cooked vegetarian meals will be prepared with care, with vegan options available. Colourful, nourishing food to support the practice, the rest and everything in between.
Midway through the week, we’ll take a break day. After a morning practice and breakfast, the rest of the day is yours. You might explore the mountains, visit a nearby village, head towards the coast, go for a longer walk or choose to do very little. Staying at the retreat centre and enjoying the quiet is just as welcome.
When life has felt like a constant stream of messages, deadlines, noise and responsibility, this retreat offers a pause. A week in which the body can move and rest, the mind can soften and you can experience a different pace. Supported, held, yet always free to choose what you need.
I hope to meet you in the mountains.

"Ine’s retreats make you pause and they get you moving. Not really searching for anything, I found so much during the yoga retreat in Morocco: pure rest, an easy, unforced sense of togetherness, and of course the wonderfully nourishing effect of so much yoga. The trip lingered for a long time afterwards and left me wanting more. The fact that I’m now looking forward to my sixth yoga retreat with Ine says enough."

Our days follow a gentle rhythm, with enough space to adapt to the group, the weather and what feels most supportive.
Mornings are held in silence and begin at 07:45 with a dynamic Ashtanga or Vinyasa practice. Breakfast follows at 09:00. Lunch is served at 13:00 and dinner at 18:30.
Later practices may include Vinyasa, Yin or meditation. The exact programme and timing of these practices will be shared during the retreat and may shift slightly depending on the group, the weather and what feels most supportive. Nothing is obligatory.
On the free day, only breakfast is provided.

"The yoga retreat with Ine in Mallorca was a truly beautiful and unique experience. Calming, yet even more so energizing, with a wonderful group of people in an even more wonderful place. Ine is a very attentive teacher who makes you feel safe and welcome, every single day. There was always enough time and a listening ear for questions and conversations about yoga, but also about life itself. On top of that, the food and the care for this lovely group of people were amazing. Everything was fresh and homemade; good for both body and soul. If I could, I would join every single time."

Ine Maes
I’m the host of this retreat and the owner of AntwerpYoga. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost three decades now, and over the past 15 years I’ve organised 22 retreats, bringing my love for travel together with a week of sincere practice, good rest, healthy food and simple moments of connection. My intention is to create a warm, down-to-earth space where you feel supported to breathe, move, slow down, and do this retreat in a way that truly fits you.
“For the past three years, I’ve joined Ine’s annual retreat. A full week of resting, eating healthy, stretching your body and getting stronger, t’s something I look back on with so much warmth for months afterwards, and something I really look forward to in the months leading up to it. The first time I joined, I felt nervous about being in a new group. And even though I’m not really a ‘group person,’ I immediately felt at home. That definitely has to do with the freedom you have throughout the trip to do whatever you feel like, at any moment. If you feel like skipping a class and staying by the pool a little longer, no one will give you strange looks. If you prefer sleeping in, or you decide to read alone or rest for a while; it’s all possible. The atmosphere is relaxed, the classes are approachable, and the food is healthy and delicious. Ine always chooses a pleasant, spacious house in a quiet location, surrounded by beautiful nature. Her classes are professional and adapted to every level. Before and after class, you can always go to Ine with any questions about your practice. A huge recommendation for anyone who wants to grow stronger, both physically and mentally, for a week, in a truly blissful setting.”

A little practical note before you book: if you need to cancel your retreat, AntwerpYoga is unfortunately not able to reimburse the retreat fee. For that reason, travel insurance is mandatory.
If not everyone in the group speaks Dutch, all classes will be taught in English so everyone can fully take part.
