February can be a strange month.
The holidays are long gone, spring still feels far away, and here in Belgium the days can be short, grey, cold, and wet. It’s the kind of weather that asks for blankets, comfort food, and “I’ll start again next week.”
And honestly… that makes sense.
This is also the time of year when many people get physically sick, or notice their mood dipping a little. Less daylight, less movement, more time indoors... it can quietly add up. Not dramatic, not a crisis, just that familiar winter heaviness.
If you’re feeling that: you’re not alone.
A lot of us try to push through winter with the same energy we have in September. But February doesn’t always respond to that mindset.
Sometimes it’s not about laziness at all. It’s simply winter doing what winter does.

I won’t pretend yoga makes everything instantly better. But it can be a very real antidote to the sluggishness and mental fog that can come with this month.
Not because yoga turns you into a superhuman… but because it brings you back to basics:
Even one class can shift something subtle: circulation improves, the chest feels a bit more open, the mind a little less crowded. Sometimes the effect is gentle — and that’s often exactly what we need in February.
This time of year, many people have to take a break because they’re sick and of course, if you’re sick, rest comes first.
But there’s a tricky moment afterwards: you start feeling better, and you could come back… but you don’t. You’ve lost your rhythm. The couch is comfortable. The idea of starting again feels bigger than it should.
If that’s you, here’s a kind reminder: you don’t have to “catch up.”
You simply return.
Not to prove anything, just to reconnect with your body again.
And when you do return, it helps to come back with a softer mindset:
Consistency doesn’t mean intensity. Sometimes consistency looks like showing up, breath, moving a little, and letting that be enough for today.
I see it again and again: people rarely regret coming to class. Even when they arrive tired. Even when their motivation was low. Even when their mind tried to talk them out of it.
Because yoga isn’t only about flexibility or strength. Especially in months like February, it can simply be:
If you like intentions, here’s one that feels realistic for this month:
“I don’t need to do a lot. I just need to keep coming back.”
Back to your breath.
Back to your body.
Back to the mat.
And if you’ve fallen off the wagon (because life happens), please don’t turn that into a story about failure. February is already heavy enough. Let your practice be the place where you’re kind to yourself again.
When you’re ready, we’ll be here.
See you on the mat for your urban exhale.
Namas-té,
Ine
