Please join Lakshmisha for his wonderful workshops and Puja. No prior expereince needed.
There's so much to learn from.
Thu-Fri 18:30-20:00 Sanskrit Basic Refresher & Chanting
You will be learning the Devanagari alphabet, and also how to correctly read, write and pronounce Sanskrit words in Roman writing. At the end of this course you can already write and read simple words in Sanskrit. This is a great introduction class for first-timers, or the perfect refresher for those who took Lakshmisha’s class before. A short chanting session is included, which will help to gain focus, improve articulation and breath.
Saturday 10:00-11:30 Yoga Philosophy
For his visit this time, we have invited Lakshmisha to expound on “arishadvarga” — the six passions or enemies of mind; desire, kāma (lust), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), moha (delusion), māda (pride) and matsarya (jealousy). These six are considered negative characteristics which prevent any human from realizing the ātman, the real self, the soul. These philosophical concepts are extremely relatable to our daily experiences and understanding them can give clarity into our yoga practice and insight into a happy and harmonious life. This session can also be followed online.
Sunday 10:00 Pūja
Lakshmisha will be conducting a pūja (pooja), a traditional ritual for internal and external harmony. This will be a very special moment and a first in Antwerp! You will not want to miss this unique opportunity to see an important Indian tradition first-hand and be part of a sacred moment, which will bestow blessings on all participants and all beings everywhere. Moreover, this intricate process will purify our yoga practice space. You are invited to come and bring a small offering such as fresh flowers, fresh fruits or dried fruits or nuts.
The event will take about 90 minutes. All are welcome, a suggested donation of 20 euros will be much appreciated.

Born into a humble Brahmin family in a village called Madageri near Gokarna, Lakshmisha Bhat has been associated with Guruji Sharath Jois for close to two decades.
Keen on learning ashtanga yoga, Lakshmisha undertook yoga asana practice under Guruji Sharath Jois. In the meantime, he also received the Vidwan title from the Sanskrit College in Advaita Vedanta philosophy and completed his master’s degree in Sanskrit from Mysore University in 2006. The same year, he married his spouse Ranjita and they have a son, Gautama.
Upon Guruji Sharath Jois’s request that Lakshmisha starts teaching Sanskrit and yoga-related theory to the increasing number of yoga students who come to KPJAYI for yogic knowledge, Lakshmisha joined the shala as a teacher of Sanskrit, chanting and yoga-related theory in the year 2003.
Lakshmisha has so far taught hundreds of yoga aspirants. He believes yoga is incomplete without the right understanding of the theory and strives to impart that knowledge to everyone who comes seeking it.
LakshmishaJi is the purohita of the Jois family, which means that he goes to Sharathji’s and Saraswatiji’s house daily, to perform the house rituals. You can see we are very blessed to have him visit our shala!
