Facilitator:
From the age of seven Lies started dancing, which quickly turned into more than just a hobby. In 2004 she graduated as a ‘Bachelor of Dance’ from the highly renowned Codarts academy in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was there she had her first encounter with yoga.
After 10 years of a career as a professional dancer and dance teacher, she felt drawn to know more about yoga. Little she knew this was the start of her journey as a yoga teacher, which she has been since 2014.
Lies has a unique teaching style and loves to work both with the structured frame of familiar asanas as well as to encourage you to venture outside of the safe space of the known, even off your mat. Because it is one thing to be able to follow the instructions of your teacher, it is another to be able to listen to the innate intelligence of your body, to let it guide you and discover what is true to you.
With the focus on a specific theme Lies will guide you from asana into free movement, so that you don’t have to be afraid of feeling lost or not knowing ‘what to do’. Your practice will become a moving meditation.
For Lies yoga is an amazing way to, through movement and philosophy, explore and discover, learn more about ourselves and the world and hopefully find meaning in life itself - even though we might never fully understand. For her yoga unites the very defined matter of our bodies with the seeking for answers for the fundamental questions of life. Who are we? Where do we come from? Why are we here? And how can we best live to our full potential?
