MUSCLES, JOINTS, FASCIA with Denies Du Mon


Have you wondered why in yoga class teachers will tell to avoid certain movements, and to do others? Why are the knees and spine subject to injuries? How can we prevent injury?

This anatomy and biomechanics workshop comprises of 5 sessions. These sessions give an overview of the most important musculoskeletal structures involved in a yoga practice, going over muscles, joints, fascia and all their biomechanical features in a holistic, all-encompassing way. Every session will focus on a particular biomechanical area whilst still linking it to the rest of the body. At the end of the session, understanding all the biomechanical traits of a certain area in the body, this knowledge will be applied to asana practice, both in a theoretical and hands-on manner. You will learn anatomy and biomechanics. You will understand injuries and how to prevent them, or how to deal with them in a yoga class as a teacher or student.

Open to all levels, some basic anatomical knowledge recommended.

Denies has been an AntwerpYoga Teacher for several years. Next to teaching yoga and workshops, she commenced her studies in Osteopathic Medicine 3 years ago. It follows that, in so doing, Denies has continued to grow as a creative, innovative and inspiring movement expert. With years of teaching experience and real-life experience both from her teaching as from her studies in osteopathy, Denies has gained a good idea of universal and individual anatomy and biomechanics.
