Finding the sweet spot to balance is often tricky, but with patience, dedication and a smile, it never gets boring or ‘impossible’. We will work our way from the ground up and look at details such as hand placement, weight distribution and how to stay up longer. We will start small and low, so we can then gradually extend, expand and explore. The sense of lightness we sometimes experience is not because we are falling, it is because we are in balance.
With Ted Sikström (SE)
Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, Ted started gymnastics and dance at an early age. On the advice of his dance teacher, he started training classical ballet. He worked in Sweden with Gothenburg Opera Ballet before moving to London. His love for acrobatics had always been strong, and he eventually found aerial circus. In 2012, in Toronto, Ted attended his first yoga classes and soon thereafter he started noticing the benefits of yoga especially the healing and calming effect of a regular yoga practice. In 2014 Ted signed up for Antwerp Yoga’s Teacher Training and after graduation in 2015 he started teaching. The love for acrobatics hand balance in particular is still very strong, and with the combination ‘acrobat/dancer/circus performer’ and ‘yogi/yoga teacher’ it seemed only logical to start exploring acro yoga.
